The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and etiological agents of
dermatophytoses, and also their distribution according to age, gender, and body site among
children in an area south of Tehran. A total of 382 children aged≤ 16 years suspected to
have dermatophytic lesions were examined over a period of 3 years (1999–2001). The
