Disposable sensor strips are promising tools for low cost and fast sensing of analytes
including environmental pollutants. They find important applications in soil, air, and water
quality monitoring. In this chapter the design and development of paper-based strip sensors,
their application areas, and finally their advantages and limitations are discussed. The
possibilities of future research and development in the field of paper-based assays are
deliberated.
