Effect of foliar spray of micronutrients on growth and yield of late sown lentil (Lens culinaris) in new alluvial zone of West Bengal

A field experiment was conducted during 2018–19 and 2019–20 at Bidhan Chandra
KrishiViswavidyalaya, West Bengal, India to study the effect micronutrients foliar spray on
growth and yield in lentil (Lens culinaris Medik). Pooled results of two years revealed that
foliar spray of B@ 0.2%+ Fe@ 0.5% increased the dry matter (113.4 g m2), no of nodules
(30.6) and no of branches (3.5). The no of pods were also found higher in this treatment

A field experiment was conducted during 2018–19 and 2019–20 at Bidhan Chandra KrishiViswavidyalaya, West Bengal, India to study the effect micronutrients foliar spray on growth and yield in lentil (Lens culinaris Medik). Pooled results of two years revealed that foliar spray of B @ 0.2% +Fe @ 0.5% increased the dry matter (113.4 g m2), no of nodules (30.6) and no of branches (3.5). The no of pods were also found higher in this treatment when compared to control (89.4 Vs121.4). The treatment of B@0.2% +Fe@0.5% foliar spray significantly increased 38.6%, 21.4%, 3.4%, 35.4% higher grain yield (1130 kg ha-1), stover yield (3713 kg ha-1), test weight (20.4 g) and harvest index (0.31) compared to control (no spray). Under late sown situation, foliar spraying of B @ 0.2% +Fe @ 0.5% helps in improving the growth and yield of the crop to a larger extend.
