The epidemiology of disability due to asthma was for the first time studied in Ukraine. The
principal reasons of disability and methods of its prophylaxis were indicated. The adequate
estima tion of the disease severity, degree of airway remodeling, effi ciency of therapeutic
intervention, state of the cardiovascular sys tem, social factors and rehabilitation potential of
patient are nec essary for the evaluation of vital activity state in patients with asthma.
