Integral and differential cross sections for the reaction H+ D 2→ HD (v′= 3, j′)+ D at a
collision energy of 1.64 eV have been measured and compared with quasiclassical
trajectory calculations. The low j′ states of the HD product show strong forward scattering
(see picture for j′= 0), which is attributed to the formation of a short‐lived quasibound
collision complex.

Abstract
Integral and differential cross sections for the reaction H+ D 2→ HD (v′= 3, j′)+ D at a collision energy of 1.64 eV have been measured and compared with quasiclassical trajectory calculations. The low j′ states of the HD product show strong forward scattering (see picture for j′= 0), which is attributed to the formation of a short‐lived quasibound collision complex.
