An assessment is given of existing shock wave/turbulent boundary-layer interaction
experiments having sufficicnt quality to guide turbulence modeling and code validation
efforts. Although the focus of this work is hypersonic, experiments at Mach numbers as low
as 3 were considcred. The principal search for candidate studies was a computerized

An effort was begun in 1989 at the Penn State University Gas Dynamics Laboratory to
perform a critical review of the available hypersonic data and to assemble a selected
database for purposes of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code validation and
