The aim of this work consists in the study of the structural and functional aspects of the
macrozoobenthic communities and their relationships with the organic enrichment and
nutrient gradients in water and sediment. The study was carried out in two coastal
ecosystems under strong anthropogenic pressure: the Sado estuary and the Aveiro Lagoon.
