A theoretical description of ultrashort ionizing wave pulses is presented by means of two
different models where the ionization rate increases or decreases, respectively, as a function
of the electric-field amplitude. We show that the pulse evolves either into a horseshoe-or a
horn-type structure in the time-space domain. In some parameter regions the intensity of the
pulse can also increase.
Abstract
A theoretical description of ultrashort ionizing wave pulses is presented by means of two different models where the ionization rate increases or decreases, respectively, as a function of the electric-field amplitude. We show that the pulse evolves either into a horseshoe-or a horn-type structure in the time-space domain. In some parameter regions the intensity of the pulse can also increase.
