EXECUTIVE SUMMARY A large amount of time and resources are expended each year by
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), Pacific Salmon Commission (PSC), First Nations,
stewardship groups, Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) and other NGOs to obtain the catch
and escapement data needed to monitor trends for BC salmon stocks and Conservation

The primary purpose for this project was to streamline and further document the process
used to do annual updates of the best available estimates for escapement, catch, and
exploitation rates for each North and Central Coast (NCC) Statistical Area (SA) and
Conservation Unit (CU) to track trends in these salmon stocks and facilitate further analysis.
