N-Aryl phenoxazines have been synthesized and introduced as strongly reducing metal-free
photoredox catalysts in organocatalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization for the
synthesis of well-defined polymers. Experiments confirmed quantum chemical predictions
that, like their dihydrophenazine analogs, the photoexcited states of phenoxazine
