Pathogenicity of P. zeae and M. javanica on sugarcane cv. Co 8021 was studied by
inoculating both species individually and concomitantly at inoculum levels of 102, 103 and
104 nematodes/plant in pots. Significant losses were observed in the quantitative and
qualitative characters. Qualitative characters were more reduced in the concomitant
infection. Soil and root populations of species inoculated singly were higher compared to the
concomitant inoculation, proving that the interaction between them was negative.
