Carbon allotropes can now be obtained as 3D (diamond, graphite), 2D (graphene), 1D
(nanotubes) and 0D (fullerenes) materials. As the dimensionality is reduced new and exotic
properties arise.[1] Many of the phenomena observed in these materials are a consequence
of their structural simplicity, but in many cases this is not an advantage but a limitation. For
applications where more complex structures are required alternative materials are
mandatory. Thus, a new revolution can be envisioned in materials science by extending this …

Solvent‐Induced Delamination of a Multifunctional Two Dimensional Coordination Polymer (Adv. Mater. 15/2013)

A Gallego, C Hermosa, O Castillo, I Berlanga… - Advanced …, 2013 - infona.pl
Unprecedented full delamination of a multifunctional 2D metal–organic framework (MOF)
assisted only by solvent interaction is carried out on page 2141 by Félix Zamora, Salome
Delgado, and co‐workers. This observation is a direct consequence of the structure of the
starting material, characterized by interlayer cavities that can be filled by the solvent
molecules, producing delamination in a simple and reproducible way.
