The spin orbit interaction, where the spin of a particle is coupled to its momentum, provides
an all-electrical method for spin control. Two dimensional hole systems possess a strong
Rashba spin orbit interaction with a cubic momentum dependence due to quantum
confinement and the structure of the valence band. This leads to more complex spin
dynamics which are fundamentally different to electron systems. In this thesis we use two
