The overall aim of this systematic review is to build an accessible resource that summarizes
and discusses key characteristics of nutrient profile models with applications in government-
led nutrition policy and regulation, to ultimately assist public health actors in the selection of
a model that is appropriate to the use for which it is intended.

Nutrient profiling (NP) models are useful for characterizing the healthfulness of foods, and
for underpinning various nutrition-related public health strategies. Recently, there has been
