Previous research documents the relationship between the physical store environment, shoppers’ emotions, and subsequent shopping behavior. This study confirmed the proposed model using Mehrabian and Russell’s environmental psychology (the three PAD dimensions) to measure emotional state. This study also extends past research by considering impulsive buying as a subsequent shopping behavior. Structural equation analyses confirm that emotional state can predict resource expenditure and shopping evaluations. Theoretical and managerial implications of the findings are discussed, and future research directions are proposed.
