The growth of ellipsoidal particles in a metastable one-component melt is considered with
allowance for the oblate ellipsoid of revolution frame of reference. The growth rate of the
volume of ellipsoidal crystals is found as a function of liquid supercooling and system
parameters. A nonlinear set of kinetic and balance equations supplemented with initial and
boundary conditions to study the evolution of particulate assemblages of ellipsoidal particles
is formulated.
