laparoscopic resections of accessory cavitated uterine masses (ACUMs). ACUMs represent
a rare uterine entity observed in premenopausal women suffering from dysmenorrhea and

Background: An 81-year-old woman with uterine papillary serous carcinoma underwent
staging procedure followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. One year later, surveillance
CT showed a mass anterior to the aorta at the level of the renal arteries and immediately
adjacent to the duodenum. A follow-up PET-CT confirmed intense hyper-metabolism of the
same area. The decision was made to remove the recurrence via a laparoscopic approach.
