Abstract Background The Wnt signaling pathway is involved in the control of cell proliferation
and differentiation during skeletal muscle development. Secreted frizzled-related proteins
(SFRPs), such as SFRP1, function as inhibitors of Wnt signaling. MicroRNA-1/206 (miRNA-
