Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) for diseases of the small intestine was introduced into
clinical practice in 2001. Over the past 8 years, an annually increasing number of
publications have shown that VCE is a reliable, noninvasive method for endoscopic
examination of the entire small-bowel mucosa. An esophageal [2] and a colon capsule [3]
