Abstract
An optical system has attracted researchers to develop a highly sensitive sensor since the system can produce low cost and portable equipment. In this study, we report an attempt to develop an optical Raman sensor system to detect Bisphenol A (BPA) particles on quartz surface. The Raman sensor system was set up, comprising a butterfly laser diode, Raman fiber optic probe, spectrophotometer, and sensor chamber. BPA samples of surface were prepared by drop-casting technique with seven concentrations of BPA from 0.001 M to 1M. The detection of a Raman scattering effect from BPA molecule was studied by analyzing the interaction between BPA film and 785 nm of laser light in order to sense the presence of BPA on the surface. Hence, Raman intensity is directly proportional to the concentrations when Raman intensity of BPA peaks has been enhanced with the increasing of BPA concentrations into surface.
