Discussion In the present study the incidence of cataract has been found to be 9.8%
irrespective of age and sex as compared to 13.5% in a survey by ICMR and 7.2%[1](in
Plains). There was a slightly higher incidence for the hypermature cataract (7.1%) as
compared to 1.4% in Punjab Study.[2] Incidence of rest of the types of opacities
corresponded in two studied.
