A variety of architectures have been reported including adamantoid, L3-51 octahedral, l6l ladder, I7] honeycomb,[*] and" brick wall".[9] We have been investigating the effect of ligand functionality in the construction of arrays based on Cut and Ag1, I4] and report here what we believe to be a unique helical structural motif in inorganic supramolecular architectures. Furthermore, the structure of [Ag (pyt~)(X)],['~'is both anion-controlled for X= NO;-the structure contrasts markedly with that of the corresponding X= PF, and BF, analogues-and dependent upon ligand functionality. This gives a completely different structural motif from that of the corresponding 4, 4'-bipyridyl complex,[Ag (4, 4'-bPY)(NO,) I,.[lll
