More than two thirds of emerging viruses are of zoonotic origin, and among them RNA
viruses represent the majority. Ceratopogonidae (genus Culicoides) are well-known vectors
of several viruses responsible for epizooties (bluetongue, epizootic haemorrhagic disease,
