Control of a piezoelectric actuator considering hysteresis

This paper deals with the modeling and control of a piezoelectric actuator. The main
challenge for the control design is the presence of hysteresis. This nonlinearity is
represented in this paper using the Bouc–Wen model and a time-varying PID controller is
designed for micropositioning purpose. The performance of the controller is tested using
numerical simulations and experimentally.
