Abstract
Copperand cadmium in soilisaseveresoilpollutionproblem in China. Itiseffectivetoremediatethesoilbysequestrating Cu and Cd with tolerant plant and microorganism. Ectomycorrhizae could exude a large number of organic m atter to reduce the biologicaleffectiveness ofheavy m etals. Therefore, underCu orCd stress, therm ostable protein in rhizosphere exuded by rootsofpine seedling (Pinustabulaeformis) associatedwithectomycorrhiza! fungi (Xerocomuschrysenteron) canhavethepotentialofsequestration forheavymetals. Theresultsillustratedthattheassociationdidn’timpactonexudationofthermostableproteinbuttreatedwithdif ierent concentrationsofCu, thetotalthermostableprotein (TTP) andeasilyextractedthermostableprotein (EETP) inmycorrhizalrhizosphere increased by 2.64 to 11.79 tim es compared with non—m ycorrhizal one. W hile treated with Cd. it was 1.49 to 7.56 times. Further analysisofmetalcontentin rhizosphere showed thatassociation significantly increased the Cu sequestration in mycorrhizalrhizosphere where relative contentofCu was 1.81 to2. 75 timeshigherthan those in non-m ycorrhizalrhizosphere while mostofCu wassequestrated by therm ostable protein, 4.19 to 43. O0 times higherin protein than in rootcel1. M eanwhile results ofCd treatmentsshowed a similar trend with Cu treatments. Thatindicated thatunderexcessive heavy metals stress. ectomycorrhizalassociation facilitated the exudation ofthermostableprotein soastoextendthecapacityofsequestrationf orexcessiveheavymetalsandmitigatethephytotoxicityfrom heavy metalspolluted soil.
