Abstract
Natural fiber reinforced composites are used in various industries because of low density, easily available in abundance, low cost and also possess desirable mechanical properties. The commercial materials which were being used have adverse effects on the environment. There are various natural fibers like jute, hemp, flax, coir, sisal, banana, pineapple, Ramie, bagasse etc. which are used to form the natural fiber reinforced composite. Natural fibers are used as reinforcing material and Epoxy/polymer are used as the matrix material. These NFRC have wide application in automotive, aerospace, marine, sporting goods and electronic industries. The main problem which arises with the use of such composites, is the high moisture content, change in the properties with temperature etc. So chemical treatment is done to enhance its properties. Present paper reports an overview how chemical treatment can enhance the various mechanical properties of of various natural fibers reinforced composite.
