In nuclear fuel assembly mixing vanes are fabricated on the spacer grids to promote
diversion cross flow and turbulent mixing. In order to investigate the decay of diversion cross
flow and turbulent mixing induced by the split mixing vanes, particle image velocimetry (PIV)
