The challenging problem of modeling and controlling complex systems is investigated using
Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs). A mathematical description of FCM models is presented, new
construction methods and an algorithm are developed and extensively examined. The issue
of modeling the supervisor of large complex systems is addressed and is modeled using a
FCM. A manufacturing example is used to prove the usefulness of the proposed method.
