Generalized algebraic scene-based nonuniformity correction algorithm

BM Ratliff, MM Hayat, JS Tyo - JOSA A, 2005 - opg.optica.org
A generalization of a recently developed algebraic scene-based nonuniformity correction
algorithm for focal plane array (FPA) sensors is presented. The new technique uses pairs of
image frames exhibiting arbitrary one-or two-dimensional translational motion to compute
compensator quantities that are then used to remove nonuniformity in the bias of the FPA
response. Unlike its predecessor, the generalization does not require the use of either a
blackbody calibration target or a shutter. The algorithm has a low computational overhead …

[图书][B] A generalized algebraic scene-based nonuniformity correction algorithm for infrared focal plane arrays

BM Ratliff - 2004 - search.proquest.com
The problem of fixed pattern noise (FPN), or spatial nonuniformity, arises due to the differing
responses of each photodetector within a focal-plane-array (FPA) sensor. Although the
response of each FPA detector is nonlinear, they are typically modeled linearly, having both
a gain and bias component. The problem of FPN is complicated by the fact that the response
of each FPA detector changes due to a variety of factors, causing the nonuniformity pattern
to slowly drift in time. Thus, it is required that the FPN be continuously estimated and …
