Abstract
The insects attacking 3 cultivars of sunflower (HO-1, SB-212 and IS-894) were sampled at weekly intervals during the growing seasons in 1981 and 1982 in field plots in the North West Frontier Province, Pakistan. The pests observed were the aleyrodid Bemisia tabaci, the aphid Aphis gossypii, the typhlocybid Amrasca devastans, the chrysomelid Disonycha sp., the nitidulid Carpophilus sp., the noctuid Heliothis armigera, the tettigoniid Neoconocephalus sp., the pyrgomorphid Chrotogonus trachypterus and the acridid Atractomorpha crenulata. Observations on pest abundance, damage caused and differences in varietal susceptibility of the food-plant are given.
