Isolation of early-flowering recombinants from the interspecific cross between Cicer arietinum and C. reticulatum.

When C. arietinum genotypes T3 (desi) and ICC8923 (kabuli) were reciprocally crossed with
the C. reticulatum genotype JM2106, the 6 earliest flowering (data tabulated) F4 lines
included the ICC8923× JM2106 cross 250-1 which flowered 43 days (mean value) after
sowing, showed 50% synchronous flowering within 6 days of the opening of the first flower
and was tolerant of night temperatures of 7-9° C.
