Citrus leprosis (CL), an important discasc, which occurs mainly in Brazil and Argentina, is
transmitted by mites of the genus Brevipalpus. Limited evidence suggests that CL is caused
by a virus. We report mechanical transmission of CL from citrus to citrus and three
herbaceous test plants (Chenopodium amaranticolor, C. quinoa and Gomphrena globosa),
with production of only local lesions, in all cases. Reaction times were 5 to 7 days for the two
Chenopodium species, 14 to 16
