Developing countries are experiencing rapid urbanization that directly and negatively affects
their acoustic environments due, in large part, to increased road traffic. Several studies have
shown that noise is a public health problem that should be mitigated, given that the tardy
implementation of control measures may render them ineffective. Noise mitigation projects
often overlook long-term aspects, which reflects the transient morphology of urban centers,
although this point is addressed in Directive 2002/49/EC. A methodology is proposed here …
