Abstract
This research was conducted to describe the form and function of the variations of the bird sound lexicon used by the Sundanese people and to reflect the culture in the variations of the bird sound lexicon. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Data was collected by recording conversations in bird hobbyist forums on Facebook, as well as conducting observations and interviews with bird shop owners and customers at bird shops as well as visitors to gantangan in Karawang. Based on the results of this study, it is known that the Sundanese people use variations of the lexicon of bird sounds in the form of reduplication and affixed words. The reduplications used are trilingga, dwilingga, dwipurwa reduplication and affix reduplication. While the use of bird sound lexicon is in the form of an affixed word in the form of prefix N-and suffix-an. The use of variations in the lexicon of bird sounds by the Sundanese people in their conversations has three functions, namely economic, social, and ecological. The cultural reflection contained in the variations of the bird's sound lexicon is the agrarian Sundanese people who are very close to their natural surroundings, especially birds.
