In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected the entire world, Indonesian society's customs have not been exempt. One tradition that has been impacted is the annual homecoming tradition, or" mudik," which is typically done during the Eid al-Fitr holiday and other long breaks. This research aims to analyze the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mudik tradition in Indonesian society from a sociological perspective, using a qualitative method with a case study approach. The study will collect data through in-depth interviews with key informants who have direct experience with the mudik tradition and public policies related to mudik during the pandemic. Additionally, data will also be collected through literature review to enrich the data analysis. The results of this study are expected to provide a clear picture of how the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced societal behavior in carrying out the mudik tradition and how public policies have affected behavior. This research is useful for enriching understanding of the COVID-19 pandemic and Indonesian society's mudik tradition, as well as providing new insights for readers about changes in societal behavior patterns and public policies during the pandemic. Therefore, this study is expected to make a significant contribution to the field of Sociology.
