Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2006•ElsevierOptical properties of Pr3+ doped lithium tellurite glass suitable for drawing fiber have been
studied and profile of energy levels obtained. An excitation with 457.9 nm line of Ar+ gives
strong fluorescence from 3P0, 1 and 1D2 levels to various low-lying levels. It is found that
the fluorescence intensity ratio from 3P1 and 3P0 levels to a common lower level viz. 3H5 at
different temperatures can be used to measure the temperature.
