Materials and methods Tyrophagus putrescentiae was cultured in Petri-dishes containing
1% water agar using Rhabditis and Cephalobus spp., as prey. A smaU amount of infant milk
powder (Lactogen) was spread over the surface of agar to encourage bacteria to grow.
Bacteria served as food for the prey nematodes.
