Full descriptions and synonymies, keys, illustrations, and distribution maps are provided. One new section, Sorbus sect. Griffithianae (subg. Aria), and one new species, Sorbus eleonorae (subg. Aria, sect. Micromeles), are described. Three new combinations are proposed: Sorbus sect. Ferrugnieae, Sorbus sect. Alnifoliae, and Sorbus sect. Thibeticae.
