The purpose of this experimental study was to observe the antibacterial effect of aqueous
methanol extracts of ten local Pakistani plants against two gram negative
bacteria,(Escherichia coli, Pasturella multocida) and three gram positive bacteria (Bacillus
cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium bovis) by using disc diffusion method. The
minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined by agar well diffusion method and
agar dilution method. All the bacteria were susceptible to different plant extracts. Azadirachta …

Abstract
The purpose of this experimental study was to observe the antibacterial effect of aqueous methanol extracts of ten local Pakistani plants against two gram negative bacteria, (Escherichia coli, Pasturella multocida) and three gram positive bacteria (Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium bovis) by using disc diffusion method. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined by agar well diffusion method and agar dilution method. All the bacteria were susceptible to different plant extracts. Azadirachta indica, Peganum harmala and Swertia ciliate showeds antibacterial activity against all the tested bacteria. The extract of Piper nigrum was most effective antibacterial activity of the ten plant extracts used. Bacillus cereu and Pasteurella multocida were the most sensitive bacteria against most of the plant extracts. While Nicotiana tabacum, Punica granatum, Ferula asafetida ,Fumeria parviflora, Morus alba and Areca cutechu different effect on different bacteria. The present study will be helpful for the local community, traditional healers and those who involved in the study of ethnomedicine.
