Compact silicon mode (de) multiplexers based on asymmetrical directional couplers are
designed using shortcuts to adiabaticity. The coupling coefficient and propagation constants
mismatch are engineered to optimize the device robustness. Simulations show that the
devices are broadband and have large fabrication tolerance.
