This work was initiated by users who questioned the validity of the “current” rolling equation since it did not conform with the observed reality. The difficulty of understanding the added mass, coupled with the pivot point location created inability to write a proper governing equation. In fact, the common assumption of pivot point at either at G or at M violates the second law of thermodynamics. Additionally, another major physical phenomenon present, and if pointed out is obvious, but is simply ignored by all the researchers in the field. The derivative of phenomenon is observed without a realization. This phenomenon was discovered this author which has significant effects on the process. These facts manifested in coercing or massaging the results to match with the common assumptions. This kind of action is not what one expects from scientists. Perhaps, the extreme mathematical difficulties propelled people to accept this practice. The current paper is the first installment based on the knowledge gained from the breakthroughs that started as a high school summer project on 2017. The largest effect manifested by new version of the added mass change (v 2.0) which where the common governing equation (s) is/are totally changed because of the missing major effects. A discussion on the sources of the fundamental errors in the common models on the frequency is presented along with the last 150 years research history. Additionally and indirectly this work demonstrates that most (if not all) of the research done on ship stability/navigation is erroneous because of the violation of the second law of thermodynamics.
