Strain hardening behavior of a friction stir welded magnesium alloy

N Afrin, DL Chen, X Cao, M Jahazi - Scripta Materialia, 2007 - Elsevier
The work hardening properties of a friction stir welded (FSWed) magnesium alloy were
evaluated using two modified equations of hardening capacity and strain hardening
exponent where the elastic deformation stage was excluded. Kocks–Mecking type plots
were used to show different stages of strain hardening. The hardening capacity of the
FSWed samples was observed to be about twice that of the base alloy, while the strain
hardening exponent of the FSWed samples was nearly threefold higher than that of the base …

Strain hardening behaviour of friction stir welded magnesium alloy

S Sathish, J Venkatesh, P Johnson, S Annar… - Materials Today …, 2023 - Elsevier
The present investigation is used to analyze the strain hardening behaviour of friction stir
welded magnesium alloy. Hot rolling process is involved in strain hardening of magnesium
alloy. The alloy is operated at above the recrystallization temperature. Titanium zirconium
molybdenum (TZM) and cubic boron nitride (CBN) tool tip is considered for friction stir
welding process (FSW). Vicker hardness tester is used to evaluate the hardness after strain
hardening process. In FSW process, tool rotational speed, welding speed and feed is …
