Abstract
The industry, along with the auto traffic has the biggest impact on the environment among the human activities, often representing a threat for the wellbeing of air, water and soil. This paper presents some effects of the industrial activities and the auto traffic on the quantity and chemical composition of particulate matters (PM10) from the breathable air. The study was carried out in the city of Galaţi, Romania, using specialized equipment in different locations of the city. The results revealed different quantities and chemical compositions of PM10, depending on different factors, and a comparison with local legislation and results from other studies followed.
