Available information on the advantages and limitations of the techniques of hybridization
and hormone treatment for the production of all male tilapias is summarized. The critical
minimum dose to ensure 100% sex reversal is determined for Oreochromis mossambicus.
The possibility of producing triploid and tetraploid O. mossambicus through heat shock
treatment of fertilized eggs is described.
