The article presents a study which evaluates the stress response of Pygocentrus nattereri or
red piranha in air and angling exposure. Samples of study was gathered in Conqueiro Bay
in Mato Grosso, Brazil using low-action spinning rods and monofilament lines. Data of the
study were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Turkey test. Results
reveal that handling stress and air exposure cause physiological disturbances to fishes.
