What forces can help businesses become more responsible? Corporate conduct impacts society. Corporate misconduct harms society. Three major streams of ideas suggest different approaches to bringing corporations in line with society’s needs: 1) law 2) stakeholders and 3) managerial education. Law has not provided an answer to corporate misconduct. We see great promise in having stakeholders having a positive impact on corporate behavior. The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) brings together multiple stakeholders, and according to Rasche and colleagues is the most widely known umbrella for corporate good conduct. Unfortunately, the UNCG has not yet reached its potential. One reason for this might be within the control of management educators. The UNGC is not widely known among managers of tomorrow, today’s business school students. This presents an opportunity. Management educators can help. We suggest social media be used more extensively to help build awareness of the UNGC and its educational arm, PRME, among university students in particular. This increased awareness can help build an atmosphere conducive to corporate good conduct.
