Description of a second species of the genus Xenohyla (Anura: Hylidae)

The second known species of the genus Xenohyla is described from the State of Bahia,
Brazil. The new species is distinguished from X. truncata mainly by the retention of young
color pattern in adults, and by inhabiting completely different environment, associated to
disjunct distribution and distinct habitat.

The genus Xenohyla is currently composed of two species, X. truncata (Izecksohn, 1959)
and Xenohyla eugenioi Caramaschi, 1998. Both species are usually found inside
bromeliads; X. truncata inhabits the restingas of the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern
Brazil, and X. eugenioi transitional areas between the Atlantic Forest and the Caatinga
