To the Editor The study by Dr Xing and colleagues1 explored the association between the
BRAF V600E mutation and mortality in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) in a large
retrospective cohort of 1849 patients from 13 centers worldwide. The authors concluded that
the BRAF mutation was significantly associated with cancer-related mortality. However, this
