Acute leukemia may be associated with coagulopathy, predominantly severe bleeding
diathesis caused by disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and/or hyperfibrinolysis.
Disordered hemostasis is characteristic for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL, FAB M3).
