The increase in incidence of iron poisoning due to children's chewable vitamins with iron is
discussed. The authors reviewed nine of these products. It is of concern that each package
contained more than the lethal amount of iron for a young child. The lack of uniformity in
labelling leading to misinterpretation of actual iron content is also noted.
